+ How to join our team

Welcome to Notable Nannies Nanny Agency. We are always looking for professional and experienced childcare professionals and household staff to join our team. Whether you are a nanny, manny, maternity nurse/nanny, nanny/housekeepers or housekeeper, we’d love to hear from you. If you are looking to build a relationship with a supportive and friendly agency register with us today.

As standard, we hire candidates with a minimum of 3 years’ professional childcare experience, and an accredited childcare qualification. If you do not hold a qualification, or the 3 years’ experience, don’t despair – everyone has to start somewhere! Mother’s help or junior nanny roles may be ideal for you. We consider candidates on a case-by-case basis and we welcome all new enquiries.

+ How we work

We know how important it is for you to find the right employer. We use a professional, friendly and personal approach to focus on YOU and to find out what it is you’re looking for. In turn, we work closely with our families to ensure we make the most successful match possible. Using our service is totally free for nannies, and we continue to support our nannies post-placement.

*Due to the high volume of applicants we get, it is sometimes impossible for us to personally contact all applicants who may be unsuccessful at securing an interview with us, or for one of our positions. We do, however, welcome you to call us at any time!

+ Interviewing with us

If you are invited to interview with us, we’ll ask you to bring the following documents with you:

Passport
Driving Licence
DBS Certificate
Paediatric First Aid Certificate
Nanny Insurance Certificate
Any childcare certificates you may hold
2 x Proof of Address documents dated within the last 2 months (council tax bill, bank statement, household bill, etc)
VISA & proof of rights to work in the UK (where appropriate)

+ Paediatric first aid

We insist that all of our nannies hold a valid 12-hour Paediatric First Aid certificate as recommended by Ofsted. Please get in touch with us if you need to update  your paediatric first aid certificate – 0203 1500 670

+ DBS checks

All of our nannies will need to have a current Enhanced DBS Check on the Update Service. You cannot obtain an Enhanced DBS yourself – but we can process one for you. We can discuss this at interview and will ask you to bring the following documents with you in order for us to assist you with this:

Passport
Driving Licence
Birth certificate
2 x Proof of Address documents dated within the last 2 months (council tax bill, bank statement, household bill, etc.)

If you have recently received your Enhanced DBS, please click here to register with the DBS Update Service.

+ Nanny insurance

We recommend all of our nannies and child carers take out public liability insurance. Annual insurance policies offer you all-important peace of mind for any incidents for which you could be held liable. We work alongside Nannyinsure who offer a discount to our nannies: 13 months of insurance for the price of 12.

With Nannyinsure, the policy covers the policy holder for:

– £5million public liability insurance
– £50,000 personal accident cover
– You can use the policy abroad for up to 90 days consecutively with a total of 180 days over the period of cover

The Nannyinsure policy costs £70 including insurance premium tax. The policy is specifically for nannies and will not cover for other domestic staff duties.

+ Pensions

It’s good news for nannies – your employers are legally obliged to automatically enrol you in a pension scheme. Automatic enrolment is a mandatory process designed to get people saving for themselves. Please see the following links and have a look through the information to see if you qualify.

+ Gross vs Net pay

The days of working in ‘net hourly rate’ terms are fading and the majority of the nanny industry is now working together to move towards advertising and agreeing salaries in gross figures. Typically, nannies have wanted to know their net pay – which is how much they are taking home at the end of the week or month. However, despite what you may think, this is not in the nanny’s benefit. Agreeing a gross salary is of utmost importance. We always advertise positions in gross terms.

+ Registering with OFSTED

Nannies can voluntarily register with Ofsted as home childcarers. Registering with Ofsted costs £103 per annum, and needs to renewed every year. In order to apply, you will need to have the following in place and up to date:

– A 12 hour Paediatric First Aid certificate
– Public Liability Insurance
– An Enhanced DBS Check on the Update Service
– A recognised childcare qualification or, if you are an unqualified nanny, you’ll need to complete a Common Core Skills course

Once you have all of the above in place, you will need to sign up to the Government Gateway website. From here, you can then apply to join the Ofsted register. Ofsted registration can take up to 12 weeks.

+ Our £200 referral scheme

We offer our nannies a referral reward payment! If we successfully place a full-time permanent candidate with a family you’ve recommended to us, we pay you a generous £200* (terms and conditions apply) simply to say ‘thank you’! So please get in touch today if you’d like to share a contact with us, or feel free to pass on our details to anyone you know who may be looking for a nanny or a member of household staff. Thank you in advance.
